This was a typical California cottage consisting of two bedrooms in generally very poor condition and in need of a renovation, which made an excellent opportunity to expand the internal space of the house in North Strathfield.
The two front bedrooms and most brick cavity walls were retained, as well as the roof structure.
We used clip-lock metal cladding for the roofing as tiles couldn’t hold to the existing warped timber structure.
The design added an ensuite and bathroom, living, third bedroom, plus rearranged the internal program to open plan living/dining/kitchen looking at a back inside/outside terrace utilising skylights.
A 60m² two-bedroom granny flat on the same site title comprising the dual occupancy.
The whole process was seamless working with a very involved client seeking a great outcome at an economical price.
