29 May Terrace Alteration and Addition in Annandale
Custom Designed Terrace /Semi House Alteration and First Floor Addition in Annandale, Inner West, Sydney (Inner West Council)
This compact terrace/semi house in Annandale, Sydney has a 3.6 meter street frontage and an interior of 130 square meters. The retained traditional facade conceals three bedrooms, main bathroom, contemporary kitchen, combined guest bathroom/laundry and combined living/dining room opening onto a small courtyard.
The custom designed terrace/semi house is in a Heritage Conservation Area and so the front facade had to be retained. With a small site area the challenge was to create a modern home with three bedrooms, guest powder room, bathroom , living/dining room, kitchen and laundry within a 130 square meter floor space.
Skylights were used extensively to open the house to light. For structural stability, Dincel walls were used with a hanging bathroom over the kitchen.
